The Pink WhatsApp scam targets WhatsApp users. The message usually contains a link promising users access to an exclusive “pink” WhatsApp version.
How does this scam work?
The user will get an unknown message from an unknown number. That message will contain a link. The link is a promising link that will play with the mind of the user and the user will open that link. By clicking the link the user will provide the hackers with their personal information. The link will say that it’s from the Meta company and it will update some features on users’ WhatsApp
What will happen if the user clicks on the link?
When the user clicks on the link then by clicking on that link or by opening that link the user will download unknown software. By clicking on the link they will take the user to an unknown website which will tell them to download a specific software. Clicking on the download of that user will allow that hacker to go through their personal information.
How will that software work in the user’s Cell Phone
Once that software is installed then the hacker will have full access to the User’s Whatsapp which will contain contacts of that user’s personal or sensitive information of that user or sensitive pictures. The hacker can create fake accounts in that user’s name or the hacker can send fake messages using that user’s information.
