Why Boycotting Swedish Brands is Trending on Twitter?
In this world, full of technology Twitter is the most used and powerful app for raising awareness about things. Recently a hashtag has in trending to boycott the Swedish brand on Twitter in Pakistan. Netizens are using this hashtag in response to the act which has been done in front of a mosque with the Divine and Most precious book of Muslims. Islam is the second-largest religion. In 2020 approximately 1.9 billion people follow Islam.
Why this Hashtag is Trending?
This hashtag is a reaction of worldwide Muslims and Muslim countries because the act Swedish people played with the most precious and the Divin book of Muslims. The Swedish people burnt the Holy Quran in front of a mosque without any specific reason. The Holy Quran is the most precious and divine book of Muslims. This book is not only the book of Truth but also a book of Guidance for those who lost. It is a book that not only teaches Muslims but the whole of humanity the lesson of peace, wisdom, and love. Islam is the religion of peace and by doing acts like this they are playing with the feeling of Muslims. For them, this act is called freedom of speech. But insulting and humiliating someone’s religion and their book in front of their worshipping house is not freedom of speech. This is not even a human right that if someone is minding their own business and you still humiliate them by insulting their religion and with the acceptance of the Swedish government they insulted and humiliated a whole community of Muslims living worldwide.
When did this Act take place?
Muslim’s last month was going on. Muslims from different countries traveled to the Holy Place called Kaba. On Wednesday when Muslims were celebrating EID UL Ahaza in different parts of the world a man named Salwan Momika a 37-year-old person burned a copy of the Holy Quran with a permit from Swedish authorities outside the Stockholm Central Mosque, When people wanted to protest against the burning of the holy Quran Swedish Court rejected that appeal
Reaction of People
The president of [IPP] party of Pakistan Abdul Aleem Khan’s social media team became famous for starting this trend on Twitter. Many social media users said that this is a peaceful way of protesting by boycotting Swedish brands on social media sites by using that hashtag. People from different parts of the world were unhappy about burning sacred books when people around the world were celebrating their EID festival. In Egypt, a similar campaign was launched to boycott Swedish brands.
Conclusion
This thing is not even a human right. No one has the right to interfere in someone’s religion and burn their sacred book without any specific reason. This was a part of Islamophobia. To make sure that by this act Muslims will have an extreme reaction and then a bad image of Muslims will revolve around the world and islamophobia will increase even more. But the opposite happened. Muslims around the world choose peaceful protest by boycotting Swedish brands and these brands include everything whether it’s electronic or cosmetics.
