What is going on in Parachinar?
People in Parachinar have been suffering for the past five days not only the people of Parachinar but also the areas surrounding Parachinar. The reason for clashes and violence going on in Parachinar is because of a piece of land. According to Dawn News, these are tribal clashes over a piece of land. These clashes are going on for a long period of time. The Shia community is being forced by others to migrate from that place or seek asylum abroad due to a lack of opportunities and because of continuous threats to their lives. In the past, the people of Parachinar were set on continuous 10-day protests then the Federal government responded.
Death Counts in Parachinar Recently
Because of a recent clash going on Parachinar, the death numbers increased to 9th till yesterday. The district Headquarters Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Qaiser Abbas Banghash confirmed that 42 people had been injured. The doctors said that three wounded people were in critical condition. He said that the doctor is trying their level best to treat the wounded persons but because of short of medicines and facilities it is becoming difficult for the doctors to fully treat the injured persons.
Where It All Started From?
Parachinar lies in the district of Kurram. The clashes in Kurram have started in the past four days. It all started in the Boshehra Dandar locality of Parachinar. It is the district headquarters. From there it spread to other surrounding areas including Khar Kalley, Balishkhel, and Pewar Teri Mengal over the piece of SHAMILAT [comman land].
Death Counts In Different Areas
Five People were killed in the First Two Days of clashes. On Sunday, Another person was killed in the Teri Mengal Area. Three people were injured in the other area of Perwa. Another two deaths happened in the Balishkhel and Khar Kallay areas. Earlier today, MS Banghash said two more people were killed while three were injured during the firing in the Perwa area.
Situation Affecting the Daily Life Chores
Daily clashes and daily firing are happening in Parachinar and the area surrounding Parachinar. Schools have been closed for over a week now. Roads have been blocked for over a week now. Shops in Kurram and its surrounding areas have closed for the past four days. The shortage of food and Medicine has now started. People who went to their homes during Eid UL Azha vacations are now stuck there, Now they are not able to return to their workplaces in other cities.
Protest Was Held
Protests were also held because of the situation. People protested outside the press clubs of Islamabad and Peshawar. The people said they wouldn’t end the sit-in unless a ceasefire was reached in the district.
Administrations reply to this situation
Kurram Deputy Commissioner Syed Saiful Islam Shah said efforts were underway by the district administration and the security forces in collaboration with the tribal chiefs to secure a ceasefire between the warring tribes. Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistani and Human Resources Development Sajid Hussain Turi said he was visiting Kurram to make sure that the atmosphere will remain peaceful. The police and the tribal elders are trying to reach a ceasefire between the warring tribes. They told the media persons that they are assuring the situation soon will return to normal.
