Pakistan to Launch 5G Spectrum A Look at the Rankings
Pakistan has taken a major step towards becoming a digital nation by approving the sale of 5G spectrum for telecom operators. The country’s telecoms regulator has greenlighted the much-awaited auction which will fuel the production of 5G services in the country. The country’s telecoms regulator, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), has opened up the auction for four spectrum blocks with a total bandwidth of 10 MHz each out of the total available spectrum of 140 MHz. The licenses to be awarded to successful bidders will be for a period of 15 years.
How will the Auction be Carried Out?
The auction will be carried out through a secure, user-friendly online bidding system with banks managing bids from operators. The new 5G spectrum cost is estimated to reach over $110 million in order to attract telecom operators into the bidding process.
The Power of 5G Technology
Eligible telecoms will be allowed to purchase a maximum of two blocks of spectrum each. The spectrum bands available for auction are 3.3-3.4 GHz, 3.4-3.6 GHz, 3.6-3.8 GHz, and 3.8-4.2 GHz. The auction is expected to be completed in one day. 5G technology represents a quantum leap in mobile communications, offering unparalleled speed and connectivity. With speeds up to 100 times faster than 4G, 5G enables seamless streaming, real-time gaming, and lightning-fast downloads.
Benefits of 5G Auction for Pakistan
The auction of the 5G spectrum is another example of Pakistan’s commitment to becoming a digital nation. It is also hoped that 5G services will unlock the benefits of the Digital Pakistan Vision launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan earlier this year. This includes enhanced connectivity, higher data speeds, and improved access to the digital economy. The 5G auction will not only attract major telecom operators in the country but will also help promote the development of next-generation services and applications.
Environmental Sustainability
With the 5G auction set to kickstart, Pakistan is now one step closer to 5G deployment. The upcoming auction is expected to provide the necessary boost to the implementation of Digital Pakistan Vision and drive economic growth in the country 5G enables better control and conservation of resources, reducing the overall carbon footprint. Smart cities powered by 5G can optimize energy consumption, waste management, and transportation, making urban centers more environmentally friendly.
