Almost 50% of the Electricity Price Increase
The price of electricity is again increasing as the temperature increases the price of electricity is also increasing. The reason behind the increase in the price of electricity is because of the agreement between Nepra and IMF. After the stand-by arrangement agreement between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), an increase of 5 rupees in the basic electricity tariff was approved

According to the details, the World Financial Institution said during the approval of the standby arrangement agreement with Pakistan that Pakistan would increase the electricity prices in any case to restore the economy. Once again the condition of the IMF will be fulfilled if the Federal Government accepts this decision. Nepra has approved to increase in rupees of 4.96 paise but the decision of the federal government is still pending. According to the Nepra declaration, the final decision to increase the prices will be issued by the federal government
How much will be the increase in the bill?
The basic increase in the electricity tariff is from Rupees 24.82 to Rupees 29.78 paisa. The prices will be increased if the Federal government passes that decision. And by adding different kinds of taxes the price will reach up to 50 per unit. On the other hand, if the Nepra decision is accepted and implemented then there will be a huge burden on normal users or households for using electricity more than 100 units this summer.
Bill According to per units
- If it is 200 units per month then the bill will include taxes and the bill per month will be 3,700 to 4,700
- If the units are consumed by 300 per month then the bill will be six thousand to eight thousand rupees per month
- If the units per month are consumed 400 then the bill for electricity per month will be 10,000 to 12,300 rupees. If the units per month are 500 then the electricity bill will be 13,000 to 16,000 per month. And by including other taxes and surcharges the bill will be 24,000 to 28,000 per month and monthly fuel adjustment will be included separately in the bill.
